TinyCat Turns Three

Happy 3rd Birthday to TinyCat! We’re proud to now serve over 1,000 small libraries with an affordable, sophisticated online catalog, best known for its ease of use and “the best, friendliest” customer support (so we’ve been told).

We’ve enjoyed getting to know the amazing TinyCat community through our Library of the Month features (in our TinyCat Post), and we look forward to welcoming many more libraries this year.

To help celebrate our birthday, we’ve got a little something for everyone now through the end of May:

LibraryThing Store Sale. Now through the end of April, get all of our TinyCat merchandise on sale, including library supplies like our CueCat scanners and barcode labels, through the LibraryThing Store.

The deals: TinyCat shirts are marked down to $10, tote bags are $18, TinyCat/LibraryThing coasters sets are $2, CueCats are $5, and barcode labels are $5 for your 1st packet and $4 thereafter.

Extended free trials for all organizations. Throughout the months of April and May, anyone who signs up for a free trial to TinyCat will get not just 30 but 90 days to explore everything TinyCat has to offer. This will give you plenty of time to catalog your collections on LibraryThing and see how well TinyCat shows them off, all while tracking any circulation and patron data you need. Sign up now.

Win a free year of TinyCat. As a little icing on the cake, we’re picking two TinyCat libraries from April and May to win a full year’s subscription! (With a special nod to School Library Month in April, one of the libraries will be educational.) Winners will be selected and announced in June.

Come and join the celebration—share some birthday love with us on Talk (adorable cat photos encouraged), and help spread the news with other small libraries you love!

Holiday Store Sale

LibraryThing’s annual Holiday Store is here! If SantaThing (signups close this Wednesday, November 28th, 12pm EST) and the Holiday Card Exchange (details coming soon) aren’t enough to spark your holiday spirit, our generous Holiday Store Sale ought to help.

Highlights: we’re selling CueCat scanners for just $5 apiece and all tees for just $7*. Be sure to check out our favorite, organic-cotton LibraryThing and TinyCat tote bags, American-made book stamps, and more. The Holiday Store is running now through Epiphany**—here.

New LibraryThing/TinyCat Coasters

We’ve just added adorable, dual-sided LibraryThing/TinyCat coasters (image left, center) to our Store. Made of thick, 60pt pulpboard and sold in sets of 4, these coasters make the perfect add-on or stocking stuffer for any book lover in your family. Be sure to treat yourself, too—you can dress up any beverage of choice with the classic LibraryThing “L” logo, or the always adorable TinyCat. Coaster sets are just $2 through Epiphany, and only $3 thereafter*.

You can post any questions about the Holiday Store on Talk, and to let us know what you think of our new coasters. Be sure to visit LibraryThing’s Holiday Store and stock up on your holiday shopping before we run out!

*Prices do not include cost of shipping. Shipping is included on Store pages.

**Epiphany is also known as Little Christmas, the night before Orthodox Christmas or the day after the Twelfth day of Christmas—and doesn’t your loved one deserve twelve LibraryThing t-shirts?

LibraryThing Models Needed: Show off your LT gear!

With LibraryThing’s 13th anniversary on the horizon (Aug. 29th!), it’s high time we updated our Store gallery. Currently, Store photos feature staff members (or our cute kids), and we’d like to change that—our store should reflect our membership.

We’d like you to send us photos of yourself, (or your family, your pets) sporting your favorite LibraryThing (or TinyCat) gear. A few highlights will be featured on our main store pages, and the rest will go into a gallery for LT members to see.

Email your photos to loranne@librarything.com, or post them in your member gallery, and point us to them.

Be sure to send in your photos by Monday, Aug. 20th, so we can compile them in time for our anniversary.

Win a free shirt

Don’t have a LibraryThing or TinyCat shirt, or need an update? We’re giving away 20 t-shirts (winners’ choice) at random. Fill out this form to enter the drawing. Winners will be picked and notified on Wednesday, Aug. 8th, 5pm EDT, so be sure to enter before then.

Update 08/06: We’ve had so many entries into the drawing, we’re upping the number of shirts we’re giving away to 40 instead of 10!

We’ve just debuted a fresh new “store” and new LibraryThing swag. New items include attractive v-neck t-shirts for women and men, and tote bags. We’ve also lowered our prices dramatically until January 6.*

Rather than having me blather on about it, why don’t you just go visit our new store?

New: LibraryThing T-shirts for kids!

We’ve just restocked on LibraryThing t-shirts, and we took the opportunity to add some new sizes: we’re now offering youth sizes XS, S, and M (roughly 2T, 4T, and 6T). They’re available now in the store. Each size comes in black or red (the kids’ shirts are a brighter red than the adult “cranberry” ones). They’re Anvil brand, 100% cotton, pre-shrunk, and can be yours for $15 plus shipping.

We could think of no better way to highlight the new shirts than to allow the LibraryThing staff to show off their cute children (most of whom longtime members may remember from when they were LibraryThing babies). Click on each picture for a larger version. All five are wearing the new Youth Small size.

From left, from oldest to youngest: Tim’s son Liam, 6; Chris C.’s daughter Ellie, 4.5; Chris H.’s daughter Kate, almost 4; Abby’s son Jasper, 3.5; and Chris C.’s son Julian, 1.5.

Give the gift of LibraryThing: Teeshirt sale and more!

Don’t know what gift to give your favorite bibliophile? Support reading habits, show readers in your life how much you care about their happiness, and give the gift of organization with the LibraryThing store.

We have LibraryThing teeshirts, on SALE! Normally, they’re $15, but we’re selling them for $9 until December 31st.

We also have cuecat barcode scanners ($15), stickers ($2) and gift accounts (yearly:$10, lifetime: $25)*. Who wouldn’t like to receive a package with a cuecat cozily wrapped in a teeshirt? Another great pairing is a gift membership and a cuecat, for the post-holiday cataloging frenzy.

Shipping dates for delivery before December 25th:
December 21st: USPS First Class and Priority Mail shipping
December 11th: International shipping

We accept PayPal, credit cards, and even checks or money orders.

*Shipping is not included in the prices I quoted, but if you click on the links, you can figure out how much shipping costs based on your location and desired expediency.

LibraryThing t-shirts

We’ve had t-shirts available on our CafePress store for a while now, but we decided it was time to do it ourselves. Our stock came in this morning, in several huge boxes on my snowy doorstep, and we’ll be sending out the first shirts this afternoon (some people had pre-ordered).

We’ve got them in black and cardinal (a dark red-ish color), in unisex sizes S-XL.

You can order t-shirts here, they cost $20 each (plus S&H).

Lindsey and I immediately picked one each and ran them through the wash so we could report on shrinkage—for what it’s worth, I’d say they shrink a little bit (they’re “preshrunk cotton”, but still), and that the medium is probably a little smaller then a typical men’s medium.

Shipping for Christmas. If you want a shirt by December 24th, then you need to order it shipped priority mail by Wednesday the 19th at 3pm EST. It’s probably too late for international shipping to make it in time (but hey, what says “Happy New Year” more than a t-shirt?)

LibraryThing memberships also make great gifts (or what about a CueCat stocking stuffer?).

Give a lifetime membership ($25)
Give an annual membership ($10)

That’s it. Back to picking books for my SantaThing-ee…
