LibraryThing’s 10th Anniversary

Happy birthday to us! LibraryThing hits the big 1-0 today, with 10 years—and 99 MILLION books—of cataloging under our belts. As you can see, we’re all having our cake (and eating it, too) to celebrate.

Thanks to each and every one of you, and here’s to the next 10 years!

Come share in the warm fuzzies over on Talk.

For more about our Ten-Year Celebration, check out our new feature to enhance music and movie cataloging, and watch for our iPhone app, coming out shortly.

Congratulations on a decade of LibraryThing!
I very much appreciate your site and efforts.
I am addicted to making additions to Common Knowledge.
Being a retired programmer myself, I appreciate how a system can grow and get a sort of mind of it’s own. Take good care of your buddy TL. You can be proud of your accomplishment!

Happy Anniversary Librarything. I love this site and received 5 year badge today. I started as a handy way to keep track of my books but hope to use more of the features in future. Nice to see how many read the books I do. Thanks again for all your hard work for readers. No matter what you read, ready is so important! NanaJojo

I joined this site on July 6, 2007, and immediately bought a permanent membership. Best investment I ever made. There’s no better way to keep track of your books, and now music and movies too! I love you guys. Keep going forever!

A belated Happy Birthday to LibraryThing!
This is not just a site, but a community – a community of booklovers, which cares for each other. I realised this when we lost our house in the Blue Mountains bushfires of 2013. I was amazed- and delighted – when LibraryThing members, from all over the world, not just Australia, sent books from their own collections to replace many of those we lost in the fire. We’ll be forever grateful – and so glad that we were members of LibraryThing!

  28. Jesse says:

Congrats. You people have kept a great thing going!

  29. JW says:

Been here 10 years and still love it.

I was loading movies, two weeks ago, and all went well. Today, I cannot see my books, and could only see movies, cannot get a response in the “Book Search” page, from any venue, cannot access any talk – which would have allowed me to enter a comment in “Bugs,” and with no other option, you get this message. As of today, nothing seems to be working on your site and even after signing in, your home page data does not come back up, nor does any other information, no matter what page I go to. I used both Firefox and Opera to access the site, both gave the same zero results. Problems? How about a means of reporting a problem from outside the system, since it is obvious to a reasonable person to know that if the only means of alerting staff that there are connectivity/activity issues is from inside, and inside is unreachable, you have a notification system designed to fail. Sorry to hear you had so much trouble. We did experience some server issues around the time you posted this comment. All has been back up and working now since an hour or so after that point. If you’re still experiencing problems, or if you have any other questions, please email us at info@librarything.com, and I’ll be happy to help you from there.
