ReadaThing Planned for August 6-7

The good folks in the ReadaThing group have planned a 48-hour readathon for Saturday and Sunday, August 6-7*. You can join up here by signing up to read for an hour of your choice, and list what book(s) you’ll read on the participation wiki.

Or, if you’re up for a bigger challenge, Saturday August 6 (local time) is also the official 2011 “Do Nothing But Read” Day, for which you can sign up here. The organizers invite all to join in, so if your schedule allows and you’re in need of a nice long day of reading (and who among us isn’t!?), take the plunge!

* In keeping with the international spirit of LT, this ReadaThing is running from noon Saturday to noon Monday New Zealand time (8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday EDT). So depending on where you are, you could be reading anytime from 5-8 August!

Count me in! This will be just before school starts and I will be going back to work so it will be perfect timing.

  2. seki says:

A belated thank you. I participated in the last ReadaThing and it literally changed me for the better. It helped relocate my innerbookworm. I am reading more and gave up tv watching to accomodate it. Thank you ReadaThing community!!

  3. Yvette Hoitink says:

I’m going to the biggest book fair in Europe on Sunday the 7th in Deventer, the Netherlands, does that count?

  4. rainpebble/belva says:

I know nothing of wiki nor blogging and when I attempted to sign up I boggled the whole thing up. I don’t know if anyone can fix it. I do know that my many attempts did now work. I am so sorry.

  5. Lauren says:

So looking forward to this! Everyone needs a day to do nothing but read, especially in this heat!

  6. waeschle says:

Im in. I would love to do the whole day do nothing but read but I am taking my family camping that weekend an also have a family reunion that I need to attend. My plan is to read around the reunion and maybe make up for the time on sun while the kids are swimming in the river. This will be fun!

  7. Kylara says:

August 6th is my birthday so I don’t think I’ll be able to do nothing but read. There will be cake-eating and birthday partying!!

  8. Nadine says:

I am retired and read all day every day anyway. How lucky am I?

  9. Judy Croome says:

If I aim for 48 hours of reading time between the hours 00h01 Friday 5th August and 23h59 on 8th August, does that count as being part of the Read-a-Thing?

    Judy, South Africa

  10. Laurie Blum says:

Do nothing but read day sounds absolutely delightful!
